Blackshaw Ginger Beer Bottle and Sunflowers

Caroline Bailey describes this painting as follows:

‘Sunflowers, they appear every year like exotic beings, vast and irresistible, at least I cannot resist them. Every year I paint them, listen to their demand for colour and contrast. There are dark roses and quiet agapanthus hiding in their shadows too. They are accompanied by an audience of objects including a stoneware ginger beer jar that has been in my possession now for so many years that I cannot remember where it came from.’
